On April 24th, former Member of the Governing Board of ISIS Europe and SIPRI's former Director, Professor Bates Gill, received the Royal Order of the Polar Star from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, for his distinguished service during his five years as SIPRI Director.

On April 29th, Myrto Hatzigeorgopoulos, Programme and Office Manager at ISIS Europe, and Jorge Eduardo Delgado, PhD candidate at the War Studies Department of King's College in London, presented their research paper 'Strategically partnering with power: Brazil, South Africa, and prospects for EU security and defence'. The presentation was part of the two-day International Conference 'The EU and Emerging Powers' that was held at the European Parliament.
