CSDP Note 1: Future CSDP missions -
April, 2012
The European Union is currently preparing three missions within the framework of its Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). These operations underline the importance attached to contributing to the stabilisation of the security situation in Africa by the European Union, and also highlight the EU as a global security actor. By the second half of 2012, the EU will be conducting an unprecedented 17 missions simultaneously. The diversity of the missions and the instability of the regions involved-such as the Sahel-are also critical challenges that face the EU. |
